Texas Nurse's Aide Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison For Sexually Assaulting Incapacitated Patients

HOUSTON (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - A nurse's aide who worked at two Houston-area hospitals was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting patients while they were incapacitated.

Harris County prosecutors said Tuesday that 53-year-old Ernesto Pedraza was sentenced last week after he was earlier convicted by a jury of sexual assault.

Ernesto Pedraza - Houston-area nurse's aide sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting incapacitated patients.

Authorities say Pedraza worked at Ben Taub Hospital and Kingwood Medical Center in 2015 and 2016 when male patients reported they were victimized while drifting in and out of consciousness.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office would not say how many patients were assaulted, only saying there were "multiple allegations" against Pedraza.

Both hospitals fired Pedraza after receiving complaints and launching investigations into his actions.
