Texas Businessman Recovers Cellphone That Fell From Plane

WICHITA FALLS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A North Texas businessman used an app to find his iPhone in a pasture after it fell about 9,300 feet during a flight from Houston.

A local newspaper is reporting that owner Ben Wilson says his cellphone still works.

Wilson, who owns Gas Corporation of America in Wichita Falls, and a pilot were in a Beechcraft Bonanza returning home Monday.

Wilson says a pressure change caused the passenger door to slightly open and he didn't realize his cellphone fell out until after landing. "It got mixed up with a Wall Street Journal I was reading and when the door popped open… it sucked the paper and the cell phone out," he said.

Wilson and an employee used the Find My iPhone app and narrowed the search to near Jacksboro, more than 50 miles away from Wichita Falls.

The pair set out Tuesday and ended up in a rural pasture. Wilson said, "When I hopped the fence a donkey came over and kind of escorted me around. He was a lot of fun, real tame."
They found the cellphone under a mesquite tree.
