LAS VEGAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP)Remember in 2014 when Texas country music legend George Strait said he was retiring from touring? He ended his farewell tour at AT&T Stadium in June of last year, before a record crowd of 104,793 fans. Well...

Tuesday Strait announced the upcoming online release of his new album -- "Cold Beer Conversation" and made it clear that while he's not touring, he's not done singing or performing.

Strait is releasing his album on Friday and has signed up to play a series of shows at the new Las Vegas Arena when it opens in 2016. The event is being called "Strait To Vegas".

The country music legend ended four decades of touring with his record-setting "Cowboy Rides Away" tour, but has said he'll continue to play the occasional gig and has a deal with MCA to produce additional records. "Cold Beer Conversation" will be available at iTunes, on Apple Music and at Walmart stores.

Strait will play Las Vegas starting on April 22-23 and again on September 9-10.
