Teens Rescued In Denton County Human Trafficking Sting
DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Life has been very different over the past few days for a couple of North Texas teens.
The Denton County Sheriff's Office announced that two 17-year-old girls were rescued during a human trafficking sting operation in The Colony and Denton.
The two day operation, which began on Thursday, July, 17, netted 23 total arrests. A total of 14 johns were taken into custody and 7 escorts were arrested. Three others were arrested on other charges.
Eight of the arrested johns have entered the country illegally, three of them have been previously convicted of felonies. One of the johns had been previously charged in Denton with multiple aggravated charges. Those suspects have been placed on federal immigration holds.
Investigators say two to four more people are likely to be arrested as a result of the sting.
"We are proud of the staff involved in this operation, and we will continue to conduct these operations to protect our children from sexual exploitation," said Sheriff William B Travis.
