Teen Suspect Arrested In Kennedale Murder

KENNEDALE (CBSDFW.COM) -- An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested for murder in the death of a man found in a Kennedale church parking lot on Wednesday.

Cody Wayne Basinger is being held at the Mansfield city jail. His bond has been set at $50,000.

The body of a man lying on the pavement was discovered by a motorist on Wednesday night in the parking lot of the Life Fellowship Church on North Little School Road.

According to Kennedale Police Captain Darrell Hull, an arrest warrant was obtained for Basinger after detectives interviewed citizens about the incident.

After information was received on the location of the suspect, Kennedale Police requested the assistance of the Mansfield Police Department SWAT team.

Basinger was located in the City of Burleson and was arrested with assistance from Burleson Police during a traffic stop.

The victim -- whose name has not been released -- suffered trauma to his head, likely from a gunshot wound.
