Teen Murdered Remembered By Friends and Soccer Teen

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -The death of a Dallas teen has hit a group of young soccer players hard.

They were teammates of Dibanhi Hinojosa was found shot to death Friday night.

Sunday, those friends held a fundraiser for his family and paid tribute to the young man.

The players on this field aren't competing against each other they're playing for one another in tribute to a friend they say would do the same for them.

"He had to play. He loved soccer too much," said Hinojosa Girlfriend Hilda Pena.

Hilda Pena can only hold a photo of Dibanhi Hinojosa now.

Her boyfriend played for Dallas' Jefferson high school his senior year.

And played with determination with community and indoor teams.

Friday night, Hinojosa became a Dallas murder victim outside a northwest Dallas apartment complex.

Hinojosa's former coach, Rolando Ramos, leads these teenagers to the field to keep them from the streets.

Teams played Sunday as a sign of strength and solidarity an effort to raise money for a burial.

Dibanhi always said we need to work together. and that's what we're doing," explained Coach Ramos.

Dibanhi was heading to his girlfriend's home when he was shot.

Dallas detectives are investigating the teenager's murder.

Sunday his friends and teammates wanted to revel the qualities of his character.

"He was a great big-hearted guy. He had a big heart," said friend Eric Bonilla.

"He loved soccer and we wanted all of family and friends to come, to play and remember him for what he loved to do the most."
