DENTON (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Police in Denton said that a 16-year-old boy has turned himself in after a shooting that left someone dead. The incident was initially reported at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday night, after a witness heard gunshots.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Paco Trail and found a 21-year-old victim on the ground. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Jimmy Castro-Almazan of Denton.

Castro-Almazan leaves behind a wife and an 18-month-old daughter. "He was more than an original man," said Jessica Almazan, the victim's wife, on Tuesday. "He was a smart, funny, silly, sweet and caring man. He would give money to a complete stranger who looked like they were in need. He was an amazing father and husband."

The teenager later turned himself over to officers. The relationship between the victim and the suspect is not clear, but Almazan said that they knew each other, and that her husband was running down the street, away from the boy, when he was shot.

When asked why the teen may have shot her husband, Almazan thought that maybe he was scared.

Almazan heard two shots, and pulled up to her husband's body to hold him while he took his last breath. "Jimmy was a man of Christ and everyday we will pray and miss him," Almazan said.

No charges have been filed yet, but the investigation is ongoing. Police have not said what led to the shooting.
