Teacher's Aid Accused Of Child Sex Assault

PRINCETON (CBSDFW.COM) - A teacher's aid in Princeton has been accused of sexually assaulting one of his elementary school students, and the arrest is rocking the quiet Collin County community.
Joshua Rojas worked at Lacy Elementary School in the Princeton Independent School District up until this summer. A school district spokesperson said that Rojas was accused of the sexual assault back in April, but they were not aware that he had been arrested until Thursday morning.
After the allegations were made, Rojas was suspended with pay, which is standard policy. He then resigned from his job in June, and the case was in the hands of law enforcement. The school district had received no updates. Deputies with the Collin County Rural Child Abuse Task Force led the investigation.
The school district stated that only one child was involved in the alleged incident, and no other faculty members were accused of any wrongdoing.
The 34-year-old suspect turned himself in on Wednesday night after a grand jury indicted him for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Rojas also faces two other unrelated charges. He was released from custody on Thursday morning.
Officials with the school district are waiting for additional information from authorities before they contact parents to inform them about the situation.
