TCC Opens Aviation Learning Center
FORT WORTH (AP) - Tarrant County College officials have opened a $20 million aviation learning center at Fort Worth's Alliance Airport.
College and community leaders gathered Wednesday to tout The Center of Excellence for Aviation, Transportation and Logistics, which opened last month. The three-story, 163,000-square-foot center will house all of the college's aviation programs.
Students will learn avionics technology, airframe maintenance, pilot training and other skills at the center. More than 900 students are enrolled in the aviation maintenance program this semester.
A campus president says the center will help meet regional workforce needs and grow the local economy.
The college spent $5.2 million in 2008 to purchase 20 acres at the airport.
