DALLAS (CBS11) - Tattoo artists from around the world are converging upon Deep Ellum for the Elm Street Music and Tattoo Festival.

The Bomb Factory will host 40 of the best in the business who will be giving human canvases permanent souvenirs.

While the event's roots are in tattooing, music and art will also fill the venue.

National touring acts like Frank Turner, Reverend Horton Heat, The Dictators, The Bouncing Souls and others are hitting the stage as the needles rattle off upstairs.

"It is just a place to hang out. There's great music and there's a lot of great artists. There's no obligation to get a tattoo," said Oliver Peck, who organized the festival and owns Elm Street Tattoo.

Peck said the festival gives folks in Dallas who collect tattoos to get work done by artists they might not be able to visit normally. Each artists brings something unique to the table, said Peck.

"There's a lot of great tattoo artists from around the world, so you see a lot of different things," said Peck.
