If I didn't have to work tonight, I would be front and center to listen to this wonderful woman speak at Choctaw Casino. You may have seen the movie about Temple Grandin who was born with autism...but it is the autism that allowed her to see things and feel things the way animals do. The autism along with her photographic memory and visualization skills gave her the ability to design thoughtful and humane animal-handling equipment. She is now a consultant to the livestock industry on animal behavior....just a fascinating woman. Temple Grandin Choctaw Grand Theater Thursday December 17.

A lot to do in Downtown Fort Worth this weekend. The Starlight Symphony returns to West 7th. This five-minute music and light show held on the hour from 6 to 10 p.m. now through January 6 is extremely cool. New this year – a sledding hill with real snow. There are also free Horse and Carriage Rides from Crockett Square every Friday and Saturday – 7 to 10 p.m., through January 2.

Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights is now through December 31. And being a lover of trees…I really like this. Texas Motor Speedway will start the Holiday Season with the official lighting of "The Biggest Living Christmas Tree in Texas" and holiday-themed fireworks display Tuesday. Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. Texas Motor Speedway has placed a giant tree at various locations in the Metroplex since the speedway opened in 1997. This year's 66-foot tall Douglas fir tree was transported from Montana.
See The Trains at NorthPark Center now through January 3. The Trains at NorthPark, presented by Bank of Texas, celebrates its 28th year of a favorite holiday tradition. The most elaborate miniature toy trains exhibit in Texas, The Trains at NorthPark includes locomotives rolling across multiple tracks on a journey across America marked by memorable landmarks. Cityscapes include downtown Dallas, with the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, the State Fair of Texas and the Cotton Bowl; New York City's Times Square and Grand Central Terminal; Washington, D.C. with The White House; New England's fall foliage; the Grand Canyon, the Garden of the Gods, Route 66, San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and the Albuquerque hot air balloons. The exhibit encompasses more than 4,000 square feet of train themed environments, with all the trimmings of the holiday train travel experience—steam engine and coach cars, a ticket booth and a train station. New this year is the location, which is Level Two next to Nordstrom. Also new is Mount Rushmore that features Thomas the Train and his friends. More than 70,000 people visit The Trains at NorthPark each season as part of their holiday tradition.
You can check out Peter Pan now through January 3 at AT&T Performing Arts Center. This is a really cool live stage production of Peter Pan in the Threesixty Theatre – a state of the art 100-foot high structure that is a climate-controlled, world-class theatre-tent.
You must see the awesome holiday display at the Historic DeGolyer House Showcasing The Artistry of the Nativity. Beginning this weekend in the historic DeGolyer House, lavishly decorated for the holidays, The Artistry of the Nativity collection returns with 300 crèches, representing many cultures from around the world.
Celebrate the holidays like never before at the Dallas Arboretum with the 12 Days of Christmas… an elaborate collection of 25-foot Victorian gazebos filled with the charming costumed characters and whimsical animals made famous by the beloved Christmas carol. Each gazebo will be encased in glass and extravagantly decorated on all sides to provide a dramatic, three-dimensional experience, and will feature mechanical parts and festive music that will assist in bringing the characters to an even more life-like state.
