Over one million Texans are licensed to carry handguns and a full third of those are women. Since 2007 permits for women to carry handguns has increased 270% compared to 160% for men.
"We have ladies only events that sell out every month. Gun manufacturers are now starting to market to women, there are guns in a variety of colors" said Director of Membership and Events of Defender Outdoors Shooting Center in Fort Worth Jerah Hutchins.
You can explore the shooting simulators, real world shooting scenario rooms, live fire ranges and the full retail facility. They also offer the initial License to Carry, known as LTC, classes and follow up classes too.
"Such as our carry with confidence, a class that you should take after you get your LTC to really understand how to draw from a concealed holster" said the Director of Training Matthew Lillis.
Besides the serious side of training, Defender Outdoors Shooting Center hosts birthday parties, bachelor parties and even baby showers.
There are two Bible study groups that meet here and they are about to offer a group setting for them.
"We are launching a Bible study here called Men and Women of Caliber. People will be able to come here, get breakfast burritos, get coffee, praise the Lord and then pop off some rounds and go to work" Hutchins added.
