DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - In the wake of the deadly police ambush in Dallas several weeks ago you've probably seen 'Dallas Strong' shirts, hashtags, and captions.

A local company has turned that momentum into a big donation to help families of the murdered officers.

Jake Thompson is the head of Compete Every Day. The company makes what he calls motivational shirts, primarily for sports and fitness enthusiasts. But after the killings of five Dallas Police officers, Thompson steered his business to a different course.

"We met as a team and decided that we wanted to support" said Thompson. "The feedback was immediate, and really overwhelming."

Thompson has already handed over $14,000, proceeds from the Dallas Strong shirts, to the Assist the Officer Foundation supporting those families of the fallen officers. He says more money is still coming in from shirt sales.
