COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a suspicious bag found at the Colorado Springs airport turned out to be harmless.

The Colorado Springs police bomb squad was called in to inspect the bag, which arrived on an American Airlines flight from Dallas/Fort Worth around noon Friday.

Passengers were kept out of the north and east sides of the airport concourse for about two hours as a precaution while the bag was inspected. Operations continued on the concourse's west side.

Airport spokeswoman Heather Lenard says an American Airlines employee reported that the bag appeared to be smoking, but investigators determined the luggage contained only clothes, shoes and a flat iron for hair.

Lenard says she does not know why the baggage looked like it was smoking.
