DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Tuesday afternoon Dallas police released new information about a suspected serial rapist.
Officials confirm Richard Perez has left the country and say they have evidence he flew to Brazil. Investigators are now working with federal law enforcement to locate the 31-year-old and possibly bring him back to Texas.
Perez, who is originally from Peru, is accused of sexually assaulting two women at the Hyde Park Apartments in far North Dallas, where he was living at the time.
Police say the 31-year-old posed as a masseuse and offered free massages as a ruse. deputy Chief Gil Garza, with the Dallas Police Department, explained, "He targets single women and is very, very persistent. There is a warrant out for his arrest and we want to assure the community that the Dallas Police Department has been actively looking for him."
Police say they have previously interviewed Perez, but at the time didn't have enough evidence to arrest him.
Officials are asking anyone who may have been assaulted by Perez to contact the police department or Crime Stoppers at 214-373-8477 (TIPS).
