ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A suspected bank robber goes on a violent rampage spanning two cities. Police say he even fired at officers on a busy street before it all came to an end.

A series of two bank robberies and a carjacking came to a halt when police say the suspect slammed straight into a pickup truck sending four people including himself to the hospital.

The suspect, Dylan Perry, 38, remains under police arrest at a local hospital and is expected to face several charges. APD is working closely with the FBI in this case as it relates to the bank robberies.

Just before the crash that ended a day filled with violence, Eddurdo Espinoza was working nearby.

"I was in the back loading up some trucks, and I just heard these sirens like come, like real fast going that way," Espinoza said.

Arlington officers were already on alert Friday morning after Mansfield Police asked them to be on the lookout for a suspected bank robber. Soon a 911 call from an Arlington Bank of America described the same suspect robbing a second bank. In less than an hour investigators say the suspect carjacked a BMW from an Arlington dealership before police caught up with him speeding through town.

"The suspect stopped and actually fired upon our officers," Arlington Police Lt. Christopher Cook said.

Police say the suspect turned onto Division Street and headed west before pulling a u-turn and drove the wrong way in the eastbound lanes. That's when Espinoza heard a new exchange of gunfire.

"So I didn't pay really much attention until I heard the two gunshots," Espinoza said, "A few seconds later after that. I heard a big crash."

The BMW slammed into a red pickup truck with three people in it. Police say they were relieved to stop the chase before more people were hurt.

"Anytime you stop your vehicle and you try to fire upon officers, very dangerous suspect that we needed to get into custody," Lt. Cook said.

At last check those three people in the red pickup truck were recovering from serious injuries at a local hospital. Police say the suspect is under heavy guard at a hospital also with serious injuries.
