DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A man who was thought to be a suspect in an aggravated robbery case died on Tuesday night about 10 blocks away from the crime scene. The incident began at around 10:45 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 4400 block of San Jacinto Street.
Police were called to the complex for reports of a robbery. But an officer near the scene noticed a crowd gathering near Peak Street, where a person had collapsed to the ground.
Additional officers and medics were called to the collapsed man. He was transported to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas and later pronounced dead. The man's name has not yet been released.
Afterward, police determined that the deceased man's clothing and physical description matched that of the suspect in the apartment complex robbery, just a short distance away. The man was apparently fleeing from the crime scene when he fell to the ground and died.
The man's friend, who was with him when he collapsed, ran away when authorities arrived. That second suspect is still on the loose. Police have not released a description of that individual.
