Suspect Arrested In Murder Of Garland Woman

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) -- Garland Police have arrested a man suspected of fatally stabbing a 71-year-old woman inside her home last summer.

On July 19, 2014, Janet Vanderslice was found dead in her home at 6206 Lennox Lane. David Wade McDermett has been arrested and charged with murder in her death.

He is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail.

In July, authorities released surveillance video showing two individuals, Vanderslice and the suspect, walking around the home. Police now say that McDermett, a contractor known by Vanderslice, is the other individual.
