Weather alert issued for dangerous heat conditions in North Texas this week

NORTH TEXAS — The heat continues to build with high pressure over the area into the middle of the week. As moisture increases so do the heat index values.

A weather alert has been issued for Monday into Tuesday for dangerous heat conditions.

CBS News Texas

A heat advisory goes into effect at noon Monday and remains in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday. This includes the metroplex counties but not all of North Texas.  Feels like temperatures could reach as high as 107°. Heat precautions need to be in place. Take breaks in the shade, drink plenty of water, wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothing.

The mornings in North Texas are also getting warmer and not providing much relief from the stifling heat.

By Tuesday and Wednesday morning, we wake up still feeling like the mid to upper 80s.

While an isolated shower is possible on Wednesday, mainly in East Texas, a lot of the area will remain dry and very hot.

Continue utilizing heat safety precautions this week as heat stroke and heat exhaustion are real dangers.
