Study: Americans Work Average 47-Hours A Week

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The 40-hour work week is a myth, for at least half of all American full-time workers, according to a new Gallup poll.

Nearly 1300 full-time working adults participated in the study, which found only half work 40 hours or less each week.

The other half said they worked more than 40 hours, with 11 percent clocking in 41-49 hours a week.  Another 21 percent said they worked 50-59 hours a week.  Nearly one in five (18%) responded that they spent more than 60 hours working each week.

On average, survey respondents reported working 47 hours a week.

Salaried employees tend to work five hours more a week than hourly employees.
