Student Vehicles & Police Squad Car Shot At On TWU Campus

DENTON (CBSDFW) - Police in Denton are looking for the person responsible for shooting out the windows of four cars, as well as the window of a police squad car.
According to the Denton Police Department, authorities were contacted by Texas Woman's University police at 4:51 a.m. Wednesday morning to assist with an investigation of four student vehicles that had their windows shot out.
Denton police officers responded to the scene at 5:07 a.m. to search for the suspect/s responsible for the damage.
While conducting the search, one of the officer's squad car was shot at, damaging the back window, however, police say they were unable to locate the shooter.
During a follow up investigation, Denton police investigators located a person of interest in the vandalism, but no one has been criminally charged at this time.
Based on evidence and witness testimony, investigators believe the the damage was caused from a BB or pellet gun.
Denton police say that similar vandalism was reported to a vehicle in the 900 block of Panhandle street on Tuesday morning around 2 a.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered that 18 additional cars had a window broken out, apparently by being shot with a BB or pellet gun.
Investigators are trying to determine if the incidents are related.
