CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A driver, transporting a 100,000 pound concrete beam, underestimated the maneuverability of his load -- and left a major North Texas commute area in turmoil.

The ramp to Highway 121 at Hebron Parkway and the eastbound lanes of Hebron Parkway, at the Sam Rayburn Tollway, were completely closed Thursday morning.

The driver of a tractor-trailer carrying the beam apparently thought he could safely maneuver on a curve -- he couldn't. The result was all 123-feet of his cargo fell off the truck and became stuck.

In addition to the fallen beam, police at the scene said the tractor-trailer was actually broken. The back axle of the trailer was severely damaged in the accident. So, in addition to getting the beam moved, a 2nd tractor-trailer and crane had to be sent to the area to load up the damaged truck.
