ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Defensive end Stephen Bowen has retired after playing 10 NFL seasons with Dallas, Washington and New York Jets.

The 32-year-old Bowen announced his decision on Wednesday. He appeared in 128 games, starting 57, and recorded 176 tackles and 12 1/2 sacks.

The Cowboys signed Bowen as an undrafted free agent out of Hofstra and he became a reserve with Dallas. Washington gave the 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman from Wheatley Heights, New York, a chance to start. Bowen started every game for the Redskins in 2011 and 2012.

He finished his career with the Jets, playing 15 games last season.
