Stars Send Dillon To San Jose For Demers

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Dallas Stars have traded defenseman Brenden Dillon to San Jose in exchange for defenseman Jason Demers and a third round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Demers, 26, has collected three assists and 30 hits in 20 games this season. Last season, he set career highs in goals (5), assists (29) and points (34) in 75 games played.

"Jason is coming off his most productive season in the NHL and is just entering the prime of his career," said Stars General Manager Jim Nill. "Organizationally, we were in the marketplace for a right-handed, two-way defenseman and he will help us tremendously in finding a balance on our blueline."

Dillon, 24, signed with the Stars as an undrafted free agent and first appeared with Dallas in the 2011-12 season. He has posted 26 points (9 G, 17 A) in 149 career games.

"We would like to thank Brenden Dillon for all of his contributions to this organization. He is a tremendous young man and we wish him well in his career," said Nill.
