Stars President & CEO Discusses The Success Of The Club

DALLAS (KRLD) - Dallas Stars President and CEO James (Jim) Lites talked to KRLD's David Johnson on Wednesday afternoon about the success of the team.

It's hard for Lites not to be thrilled with the club. The Stars finished in first place in the Western Conference, won the Central Division with 109 points, and they have two superstars in Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.

But what about the business side of things? According to Lites, things are going very well for the Stars right now.

You can hear just how well they're going in the interview below.

Another topic of interest that you can hear Lites talk about is a the upcoming decision about a possible new building for the Stars.

Lites was asked about Dallas Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban's comments about the future of the American Airlines Center, where both the Stars and Mavs play their home games.

Cuban told reporters that the Mavs lease is up in 14 years and that the AAC has a parking problem now that developers have built so many things around the building.

In the same interview, Cuban told the Dallas Morning News about how he dreams about the thought of building a new arena, one where fans can see downtown Dallas from every seat in the building.

"The place we're looking at would have to have a lot of parking, because we haven't really gotten much support from local builders for our parking," Cuban said. "That's one of the reasons we'll look at potential relocation. We're going to want a better situation than we've got now. "

Lites acknowledged that he didn't know what they'd do in fifteen or twenty years down the road, but what he does know is that the Stars love their home building.

"The American Airlines Center was built with great infrastructure and great bones. What's now happening is what we envisioned fifteen years ago when planning began, and we love being in the middle of all that activity," said Lites. "I can't speak for Mark, but Jim (himself) and Tom (Gaglardi) from the Stars love the American Airlines Center. We love where we are and we love everything about it. "

The Stars and their fans can only hope that they'll have another banner or two to raise in that new building fifteen years from now.

Dallas begins their quest for the Stanley Cup on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild.
