There are a lot of fun things to do around the Halloween season but for the daring, there is the thrill of going to spooky, scary, and possibly haunted places. In the DFW area, there are plenty of these creepy places to choose from. With the choice of haunted houses, bridges, schools, and more to choose from. Here is a look at the spookiest places in the DFW area to check out this Halloween - if you have the guts.

The Adolphus Hotel

This isn't the cheapest place to stay in the DFW area, and it will break the bank of many people who want to experience it. However, The Adolphus Hotel is considered one of the most haunted hotels in the entire state of Texas. The biggest haunting in the hotel is the ghost of the "jilted bride," who is rumored to wander the 19th floor of the hotel. The legend states that the bride was scheduled to get married back in the '30s, but her fiance no-showed and she took her own life on the 19th floor. People who have stayed on that floor of the hotel claim to hear a woman's cries and mysterious footsteps in the halls. There are also legends of an old music box playing when people see her apparition.

Head over to Fort Worth and there is a haunted hotel as well. Miss Molly's Hotel embraces the haunted mysteries of its building, advertising it on their website and actually having fun things that curious people can do while staying there. The hotel is the oldest bed and breakfast location in Fort Worth, opening in 1910. There are seven themed rooms in the hotel and each of the rooms has its own spooky story. There have been people who have claimed to have seen ghosts, including young children and ghosts of the prostitutes that used to work the establishment during the prohibition era. The hotel also has a batch of photographs and audio recordings of supposed sightings.

The Millermore Mansion is an old plantation home in Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park. It was built in 1861 and is said to have a female ghost that haunts the house. Visitors to the mansion, as well as the staff, have claimed to see the apparition in the master bedroom as well as the nursery. There have been a number of paranormal teams that have investigated the spooky mansion and there are legends of many ghostly children playing on the grounds as well. The house is open to tours but don't expect too many details from the staff about the haunting as they prefer to allow guests to imagine what happened at this house in their own minds.

One of the most famous urban legends involves the Lady of the Lake and various spins on this. The Dallas "Lady of White Rock Lake" is the most famous, where the ghost of a woman has haunted the lake since the 1930s. The original story was told back in 1943 when a couple was at White Rock Lake when a young girl in white, dripping wet, came to their vehicle and said she had been in a boating accident and needed to get home. They drove her to the address she gave them but when they arrived, she was no longer in the car. It turns out the man who lived there was her father and she had drowned at White Rock Lake three weeks before. To this day, people still claim to have run across the young girl in white, asking for their help.

Forget about finding haunted houses, mansions, and hotels. Granbury, Texas, prides itself as the most haunted town in Texas. There is even the Granbury Ghosts and Legends Tour every Friday and Saturday nights, year round. These start at 7 p.m. CT and 9:15 p.m. CT and the tour guide takes guests to the numerous haunted locations around the town. The stops include the Granbury Opera House, Nutt House Hotel and Last Mile Cemetary. There are a lot of spooky places in DFW, but Granbury might have them all beat when it comes to the amount of haunts in one location.
