DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Speed limits on many North Texas freeways are about to go up - but only by a small amount.

TXDOT is increasing speed limits on several North Texas highways for what the agency says will create a smoother commute and even improve air quality.

Tony Hartzel with TXDOT says the most areas will see their limit raised by 5 mph.

New speed limit signs are currently being installed along Hwy 75 (Central Expressway) through Richardson and Collin County; I-30 from LBJ Freeway to Rockwall; Interstate 35-E from I-635 (LBJ) to Denton and Interstate 20 from State Highway 360 to U.S. Highway 175.
