SPCA Of Texas Acts As Rabbit Transfer Hub
McKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - The SPCA of Texas received more than 80 rabbits from an Indianapolis shelter at 8 a.m. Sunday, acting as a transfer hub for the animals to be passed along to groups in the state and California who will find them permanent homes.
The furry creatures have been cared for since they were rescued from "cruel conditions" last summer, according to a press release.
This is the SPCA of Texas' first time acting as a relay stop in an effort to relocate rabbits across the country, spokeswoman Maura Davies said.
The SPCA of Texas is joined by the Houston SPCA, WildRescue, Inc., San Diego House Rabbit Society and others to take care for the rabbits.
The groups will help transport them to their final destinations before being adopted out at each of the groups' shelters.
"What an amazing story of partnerships between rescue groups spanning half the country!" Davies said.
