Southwest Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Window Cracks In-Flight

(CBSDFW.COM) - A Southwest Airlines flight from Chicago to Newark made an emergency landing in Cleveland  due to a busted window.

None of the 76 people aboard Southwest Flight 957 were hurt.

Passengers say they heard a popping sound when the window broke. They told The Associated Press that passengers moved quickly away from the window after it cracked.

"The aircraft has been taken out of service for maintenance review, and our local Cleveland Employees are working diligently to accommodate the 76 Customers on a new aircraft to Newark," Southwest Airlines said in statement released to CBS 11 News.

A Southwest Airlines spokeswoman says the plane never lost cabin pressure and the pilots didn't declare an emergency.

A video posted on Twitter shows flight crews calming passengers, telling them, "There's going to be some agents and we're going to walk you right on to the plane next door."

At least two of the passengers say that after the window damage they thought back to the deadly accident two weeks ago when an engine blew apart and broke a window on another Southwest flight, killing a woman.
