Southlake Police Arrest Ex-Student For Alleged Threats
SOUTHLAKE (CBSDFW.COM) - The Southlake Department of Public Safety said a former Carroll Independent School District student was arrested Tuesday after allegedly sending threatening messages via social media to a current student at Carroll Senior High School.
Southlake Police arrested Hudson Bales, 18, who was booked at the Keller jail on charges of terroristic threat and harassment.
"It is certainly understandable that threats made against any student or school would create a level of fear in the community, and while I cannot accurately predict what a person may or may not do, at this point, we do not believe there is a continued threat against any CISD school," said Southlake Police Chief Steve Mylett.
Carroll ISD sent an email to parents informing them that they immediately put Carroll Senior High School on a soft lockdown. Most of the students were already dismissed when the school was locked down.
The following is part of the email issued by the Carroll ISD Superintendent, David J. Faltys:
Please know that CISD takes threats serious and will act promptly to protect district students, staff and assets. We are working with the Southlake Police Department and our school resource officer on this issue. We plan to issue a criminal trespass warning against this individual, barring him from all CISD property. If he comes to CISD facilities or is on our property for any reason whatsoever, he will be immediately arrested.
Students need to be aware that postings on social media – especially those that harass others or threaten other individuals, a school, or school property – will be investigated thoroughly and handled by local law enforcement with the potential for felony charges and discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct.
We appreciate the ongoing relationship CISD has with the Southlake Police Department and applaud the quick response by our School Resource Officers (SRO) when questionable postings are brought to their attention.
