EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a South Texas man sought in the fatal shooting of his estranged wife was captured while trying to enter Mexico.

Hidalgo County jail records show 58-year-old Javier Sobrevilla Jr. of Mission was being held Tuesday on a murder charge. Online records don't list an attorney to speak for Sobrevilla, whose bond was set at $2 million.

Authorities say the body of 58-year-old Maria Guadalupe Sobrevilla was discovered Nov. 21 in the front yard of her Edinburg home. The victim was located after neighbors reported hearing gunfire.

Officials with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office say the attack was believed to be the result of a domestic dispute.

A warrant was issued for Sobrevilla. He was arrested Saturday at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge while trying to reach Mexico.
