FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Fort Worth said that a 26-year-old man was taken into custody Monday night for allegedly stabbing his mother to death. The incident happened in the 7500 block of Gleneagles Way. The suspect has been identified by authorities as Paul Robert Labar.
Officers were called to the family's home for reports of a cutting. When they arrived at the scene, police discovered the victim's body inside of the house with multiple stab wounds. The mother, identified as 57-year-old Lauren Labar, was rushed to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth in critical condition, according to officials with MedStar.
The woman ultimately died at the hospital from her injuries.
Authorities also found the suspect at the home when they arrived on Monday night. Labar was arrested for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, because his mother had not yet died at that time. Since the victim has passed away, his charge is now being upgraded to murder.
According to a neighbor, the son suffered from some kind of mental problems, and was reportedly off of his medication at the time of the attack.
