NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It's all about hot dogs, hamburgers, fireworks and apparently travel! According to AAA Texas, there will be nearly 3.1 million Texans traveling this Independence Day weekend.

There have been recent "seasonal" gas price increases, but the overall lower prices at the pump are apparently motivating folks to hit the road. AAA Texas V.P. of Branch Operations Rhonda Wilson said, "Spurred by the lowest gas prices since 2005, more people than ever are planning to travel."

According to AAA, drivers have saved about $20 billion on gasoline so far this year compared to the same time last year.

In addition to gasoline, AAA says top selling domestic flights and hotel costs are also less than in 2015.

There will be some 2.6 million Texans traveling by automobile this July Fourth, almost 280,000 by airplane, and some 190,000 choosing other modes, like trains, buses, or cruise ships.

Nationally, 43 million Americans are expected to travel for the holiday weekend.
