Snap Back to Normal

Difficult to remember but it was 101° last Wednesday afternoon. I hope everyone could find their coats for Friday Night Football last night, we had strong north winds and temperatures in the mid-60's. This morning there was a chill in the air that was unlike anything since last Spring:

The official low at DFW was 56°, the coldest morning since last May (the record low for this date is 48°). The high today was only 71° (that's ten degrees COLDER than the 6am Wednesday morning temperature). Looking back in the record books that is one of the coldest days in the first two weeks of September we've had since 2003. In fact we've only had 15 days in the first two weeks of September this cold (or colder) since 1898 when records began.

Expect tomorrow to another chilly start. It'll be in the low 60's and very dreary with some fog and drizzle. The winds won't be as strong as the this morning fortunately but you'll still need your coat:

The next chance of rain comes Tuesday when a cold front arrives and helps lift very moist air into the upper parts of the atmosphere. This will trigger about a 40% rain chance. All the moisture is being pumped in from a tropical low coming on shore in southern Texas and Mexico and a Pacific Hurricane off the coastline of western Mexico.
