SMU Falls To Tulsa 40-31

DALLAS (AP) — D'Angelo Brewer ran for 119 yards and a touchdown and Zack Langer scored on three short runs as Tulsa handed SMU its sixth-straight loss 40-31 on Saturday.

Brewer's touchdown, a 23-yard run, capped a five-play, 75-yard drive 19 seconds before the half to put the Golden Hurricane (4-4, 1-4 American Conference) up after the Mustangs (1-7, 0-4) had taken a 21-16 lead 53 seconds earlier.

Matt Davis threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter to put SMU up 14-3. Langer's first touchdown_and Kerwin Thomas' 31-yard pick-6— gave Tulsa a 16-14 lead.

But SMU regained the lead when running back Xavier Jones hit Xavier Castille for a 39-yard score 1:12 before the half.

Langer had a 1-yard TD in the third quarter and after Davis threw his third touchdown pass early in the fourth, Langer finished the scoring on the next drive.

Davis was 19 of 39 for 236 yards with Courtland Sutton catching eight for 165 yards and two TDs.
