Argument Leads To Shots Fired Near TCU Campus

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - One person was hurt after at least one shot was fired near the Texas Christian University campus in Fort Worth early Tuesday morning.

Officials with TCU sent a tweet telling students faculty and staff to 'seek safe shelter.' The emergency alert went out around 7:00 a.m.

According to Fort Worth police, two male employees of the Roadrunner Shuttle service that TCU uses got into an argument. At some point, one employee fire a shot at the other but missed. The victim was injured when the driver bumped him with the shuttle van.

The incident happened near the corner of West Cantey Street and Highview Terrace, at the north end of TCU's Amon Carter Football Stadium. Police say no students were on the bus at the time.

The suspect, 53-year-old Eric Hampton, was captured by police around 8:45 a.m. at this residence. Hampton was charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon and for having a weapon on school property.

TCU issued the 'all clear' just after 8:00 a.m. While many morning classes were canceled, students are expected to be in afternoon classes. "All regularly scheduled classes that begin after noon today (11/7) will resume according to their normal schedule" the University said in a text message to students.

Police say the bus was located miles away from campus, which led them to call off the campus lockdown.
