ARLINGTON (CBS11) - The storm only lasted a few minutes on Friday but it left large portions of Arlington damaged and without power.

The strong winds ripped a portion of a roof of a business off the structure along West Park Row Road near Bowen Road.

During a drive through the city, trees were down.

Flooding was also a concern for drivers.

The storm left many residents without power, forcing them to turn to candles to bring light to their homes.

Arlington Police were dispatched to various roads due to certain traffic signals going out.

Some resident said while they felt the area needed the rain, they were a little concerned at times because they thought they might see a tornado.

"Just a big boom. Like a one of them cherry bombs went off. Boom and that was it," said Rosetta Glaspie of Arlington.

The City of Arlington also warned residents about the potential of rushing water and high streams saying the waters can sometimes be deceivingly deep.
