Arlington Police: Man Rams, Shoots, Kills Brother On City Street

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A man rammed and then shot multiple times by his brother in a quiet Arlington neighborhood has died, police said early Monday.
The dead man, who has not been formally identified, was inside a four-door passenger car on Truman Street late Sunday morning.
The man's brother, according to witnesses rammed him with his truck, then walked over to the crippled car and fired shots into the driver's side in broad daylight.
The victim was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth but later died.
On Truman Street in Arlington, the impact to the victim's car was clear as crime scene investigators worked to piece together how it came to rest there. Evelyn Garcia was nearby when she realized something was wrong.
"The first thing that I noticed was the shots. It was just about three to four shots," Garcia said.
She didn't see the collision before the shots, but police say much of what happened was captured on home surveillance video. Garcia says she saw that video and could clearly see the suspect's green pickup truck that appeared to be waiting for something.
"The truck accelerated really quick where it was very hard on the blue car and hit the maroon truck," Garcia said.
Investigators confirm after colliding with the victim's car, the suspect's truck hit another parked truck, but that didn't stop the suspect from approaching the car.
"He got out of his car really quick and went around to the driver's side of the person and just shot like three to four times," Garcia said.
"We really don't know the motive, but what really helped us in this case is when the suspect truck rammed this vehicle, it caused the license plate to fall off the suspect vehicle, so sometimes in police work you get lucky," Arlington Police Lt. Christopher Cook said.
The license plate led police to 28-year-old Luis Aron Soto, the brother of the victim.
Investigators are still trying to learn what led up to the dispute between the two brothers. In the meantime, neighbors can only hope this shooting is not a sign of more violence to come.
"It's not the first time when you hear gunshots on this street. It's mostly gunshots back into those apartments, gunshots over there, over there. I mean you never know if it's a joke or somebody actually got killed," Garcia said.
Soto was charged with one count of Aggravated Assault - Family Violence with a Deadly Weapon but police said early Monday that charge will be upgraded to murder. He remains in the Arlington City Jail.
