'Sgt. Phil Better' Making Rounds At Children's Hospital

FORT WORTH (CBS11) - A North Texas police officer is spreading cheer for sick children one teddy bear at a time.
Sergeant Terry Richards of the Tarrant County College Police Department hands out teddy bears to children at Cook Children's Medical Center in hopes of brightening their day.
The teddy bears can be stuffed bears or sometimes, stuffed puppies, but when they are outfitted with miniature replica TCC police uniforms, they all become a character known as, Sgt. Phil Better.
"He's kind of a mini me," said Sgt. Richards.
Sgt. Richards said he uses the materials from recycled police uniforms to make the miniature police outfits.
The stuffed animals all come from the Build-A-Bear Store at the Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth.
Sgt. Richards dresses them up and personally delivers it to children who could use some cheering up.
"It's indescribable really, because you come up here thinking you are doing something for them and you see their face light up ...it turns your day around," said Sgt. Richards.
He said so far he has handed out more than 100 stuffed animals.
