Severe Storms Put Softball Season In Jeopardy

FORT WORTH (CBS11) — The severe weather that has ripped through North Texas the past few days is being blamed for the extensive damage at a Fort Worth ballpark.
The fields and facilities at the Pioneer Youth Baseball & Softball Association's park are not safe for play.
High winds destroyed an electrical hut there, tore down walks and ripped down fences.
Three light poles that cost $8,500 each, also snapped and fell to the ground.
Roy Salle sits on the board of the PYBSA and says, "You've got to find a place to start to pick the pieces up and make it happen for the kids."
Salle says they are now trying to figure out how to pay for all the damage and have the park ready for the beginning for their spring season in 10 days.
He said the park is independently funded and they don't have the money to make the costly repairs.
"It would be heartbreaking if we can't get these fields ready in time, and putting a smile on these kid's faces," says Salle.
The PYBSA is now hoping community support and donations from the community will bring in the necessary funds to save their park and the upcoming spring season.
