Serial Robber Sentenced To 40 Years In Prison
TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - It took a Tarrant County jury an hour to sentence a Grand Prairie woman to 40 years in prison for a series of robberies that took place over a 12-day period.
Jurors convicted Desiree Satterwhite, 27, to three counts of aggravated robbery. Prosecutors presented evidence from four additional robberies during the sentencing phase before the jury handed down the punishment.
Satterwhite and her boyfriend, Charles Camp, went on a robbery spree in 2012, in which they held up a Subway, Game Stop and Shell gas station in Fort Worth and Arlington.
Prosecutor say Satterwhite would walk into the business first to stake out the layout and determine if the clerk was alone. She would then signal to Camp who would enter the store with a gun and demand cash. Satterwhite's vehicle served as the getaway car.
Prosecutors told the jury that when Satterwhite and Camp were caught, the couple was staking out other places to rob.
"This defendant did everything but wield the weapon herself," said Prosecutor Lisa Callaghan. "The jury's decision will send a message to others who may be tempted to assist in the commission of crime: You will be held accountable if you help others commit crime."
Last year, Satterwhite's boyfriend, Camp, the mastermind behind the robberies was sentenced to life in prison.
