LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - A pair of big rig crashes early on Thursday slowed down traffic in the northbound lanes of Interstate-35E in Dallas and Lewisville. They both happened at around 4:30 a.m. as rain was coming to an end and wet roads remained across North Texas.

The first crash happened just before 4:30 a.m. in Dallas, near the intersection with Saner Avenue. It involved a Braum's big rig and a white pickup truck, but officials have not yet been able to determine exactly what happened. The crash left the 18-wheeler overturned along the side of the highway and fuel spilled in the area.

Authorities have not said if anyone was hurt, but witnesses stated that there did not appear to be any serious injuries.

Several lanes along this part of the interstate were closed as crews worked to clean up the mess. Shortly after the big rig was uprighted, there was another collision within the backed up traffic, involving three vehicles. There were no serious injuries in this crash either. The scene has since been cleared.

A second big rig crash then took place just after 4:30 a.m. near Highway 121 Business in Lewisville. In this incident, the big rig smashed into an SUV, pinning it into a barrier wall. The SUV driver was stuck inside of the vehicle. It took crews about 30 minutes to rescue that individual.

The force of the crash also broke open a fuel tank on the big rig, spilling diesel fuel onto the highway. Several lanes here were closed as well while workers are at the scene to clean up the spill and remove the crashed vehicles.

Roads all across North Texas remain very slick after storms late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. Drivers are encouraged to be careful behind the wheel, and check the traffic map for the latest updates on highway conditions.
