Scam Alert In Denton County

DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - There is a new scammer at work, says the Denton County Sheriff's Office.

Most recently, he's been saying his name is Scott Smith, and he works for the Denton County Sheriff's Office. He has also claimed to work for the Denton Police Department.

They say this person is telling people they have missed jury duty and must pay the fine to him to avoid being arrested.

He is calling from 940-200-1516.

If he contacts you, or anyone you know, you're urged to contact the authorities in your area immediately.
