Sanctions Considered After Hit On Referee

ROUND ROCK (AP) - Texas' governing body for public high school sports is scheduled to meet again on the case of two San Antonio high school football players deliberately hitting a referee during a game.
The Sept. 4 incident involved two players from Jay High School blindsiding referee Robert Watts. Video of the hit created a national stir.
The University Interscholastic League meets Thursday to consider sanctions against the school, its coaches and the players involved. The players have already been disciplined by local officials and an assistant coach who allegedly ordered the hit resigned.
The coach, referee and players have twice turned down previous invitations to testify. All three were again invited to Thursday's meeting.
Police in Marble Falls, where the game was played, are still considering whether to file charges.
