ARLINGTON (CBSDFW) -- Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor has been named the American League Player of the Week for the period ending July 26.

During that span, Odor hit .385 (10-for-26) with nine runs scored, three home runs, three doubles, a triple and eight RBI over six games.

It's the first time he's earned the honor in his career.

The last Ranger selected for the award was Kevin Kouzmanoff, who was selected in April 2014.

In May, Odor was sent to Triple-A Round Rock after hitting .144 with one home run and 25 strikeouts in 90 at-bats while starting 25 of the Rangers' first 31 games at second base.

Since returning, Odor has hit .367 with seven homeruns and 25 RBI to raise his season average to .271.
