IRVING (105.3 The Fan) - Jordan Spieth is among Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People'' — and based on a column written by Tony Romo for the magazine, the young golf star has certainly had an influence on the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

"Jordan possesses rare competitive greatness that he somehow shuts off when the setting calls for it," Romo writes in Time. "And his graciousness toward others is genuine and real. He is the standard by which our heroes should be measured.''

That's lofty praise and it's the result not only of Dallas native Spite's success — but also his handling of failure, most recently in an epic collapse at the Masters.

Spite, writes Romo, himself a standout golfer, "exemplifies everything that's great about sports. Enjoy watching this kid grow up. He will fail and he will succeed, but more than anything, he will make you remember what our heroes are meant to look like. On and off the field."
