VALLEY RANCH (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo underwent successful surgery on his left clavicle Tuesday.

The team says he is expected to undergo a six-to-eight week period of recovery and treatment before returning to football related activity.

The quarterback left the Carolina Panthers vs Dallas Cowboys 2015 Thanksgiving Day game late in the third quarter after being sacked.

It was announced Romo sustained a left clavicle injury.

The Cowboys finished 2015 with a 4-12 record as the team went 1-11 in Romo's absence.
