FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - Tony Romo took to the Cowboys practice field with his team for the first time all regular season, wearing a T-shirt and shorts while throwing in individual drills and pat-and-go to his uniformed teammates.

Moments before the session, coach Jason Garrett downplayed the idea of the QB practicing today or even this week, noting, "We'll just take it day-by-day. He's had some good days of rehab lately."
Garrett also suggested Wednesday would be nothing more than yet another of those rehab days — though he never specifically said Romo wouldn't get this sort of work in.

Romo broke a bone in his back on Aug. 25 in a preseason game in Seattle has hasn't been a Cowboys participant since then, instead relegated to serving as another "coach'' for rookie Dak
Prescott, who has been brilliant in Romo's stead as part of this surprising 5-1 team.
Romo first played catch with ex-teammate Miles Austin, now in the Dallas scouting department. Then he conferred for a bit with staffers Wade Wilson and Marc Colombo. And then he let 'er rip, as he has done for the last week in private workouts — "Romo looks like Romo,'' receiver Cole Beasley told me — throwing passes of around 30 yards with zip.

There are Cowboys decisions to be made at quarterback … not this week, with Prescott slated to start Sunday night against the visiting Eagles. … but soon. Prescott's skills and his "hot hand'' and "momentum'' are in play. Romo's skills and status and future salary-cap decisions are in play, too.
But before anything's in play, Tony Romo needs to practice. Wednesday was a huge step towards that.
