Roller coaster ride of temperatures ushers North Texas into Thanksgiving
NORTH TEXAS – A cold front moved through North Texas Monday, cooling temperatures 20 to 30 degrees and bringing cloudy skies.
Overnight, the clouds will move off to the east, allowing for some clearing to take place. This will result in radiational cooling, meaning the warmth at the surface will eject into the atmosphere allowing for a frigid start to Tuesday. Morning temperatures are forecasted to be in the 30s.
The temperature roller coaster continues as the mercury continues to climb in the upcoming days. Highs on Tuesday are expected to be around average, but by Wednesday, highs are forecasted to be in the upper 70s. Don't get used to the warmth because another strong, arctic front moves through on Thanksgiving.
The potent front will bring cold temperatures and windy weather, gusts could get up to 30 mph. This weather will limit outdoor activities, and the wind chill or "feels-like" temperatures will feel even colder outside throughout the day.
As the cold air settles across the area overnight Thursday, by Black Friday morning, the season's first freeze will be possible across the northern counties.
Regardless of location in North Texas, the coldest weather of the season will be expected Friday morning. This is why we want to First Alert you to bundle up as you head out to get the deals and doorbusters!
Entering the weekend, the temperatures will eventually warm before another front moves through late Saturday into Sunday. Buckle up and stay tuned, the temperature roller coaster continues.
