Riverside Bridge Opens In North Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The final part of the North Tarrant Express project opened to traffic on Monday morning, months ahead of schedule. The Riverside Bridge is a brand new addition, not a replacement for an older bridge. And, as such, it could cause some confusion among Fort Worth drivers.
The bridge runs north-and-south over Interstate-820, in an area that has seen a tremendous amount of growth in recent years, particularly among businesses and industries. There is a traffic circle on the bridge's southern end -- something else that truck drivers and other motorists will have to get used to seeing.
The whole bridge, in fact, is new to drivers. After the construction barriers were removed on Monday morning, there was little traffic because not a lot of drivers are accustomed to having this bridge in place. Prior to the bridge, drivers were forced to take a longer way around.
"This bridge will help alleviate traffic on Beach Street, and it could serve as an alternate route in this area for 35W, if you're looking to get to about Western Center Boulevard or Northern Cross or Meacham, it'll connect those two areas without you having to get on the highway," added Tommy Williamson, a spokesman for the North Tarrant Express project.
